Dr Ruveena Bhavani Rajaram is a distinguished Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Physician, known for her excellence in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. Her medical journey began at the University of Malaya, where she obtained her undergraduate degree, MBBS, which was followed by MRCP (UK). Her professional affiliations include the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology (MSGH) and the Royal College of Physicians, UK (MRCP). She plays an active role in the Asia-Pacific Liver Failure Research Consortium (AARC), the Emerging Leaders Committee of the Asia Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (ELC-APAGE), and in the World Endoscopy Organisation (WEO) – Research subcommittee. Dr Ruveena is adept at basic and advanced endoscopic procedures, such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGDS), colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). She excels in managing complex gastrointestinal and liver conditions, including hepatitis, fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dyspepsia, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and provides critical care for liver transplant patients. Her research contributions and achievements have not gone unnoticed, particularly as the principal investigator for Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials for treatment of Hepatitis B in Malaysia.
