Unit Philosophy
  • Each patient, along with their family and friends is a unique individual with physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs. These needs are met by using a high level of specialist knowledge and clinical skills, within a framework of good communication and teamwork.
  • Our overall aim is to always care for our patients, families and friends in a manner in which we would like to be cared for ourselves – with dignity and respect.
  • We believe that relatives should be well informed and encouraged to participate in the care of their loved ones.
  • We also recognise that some of our patients, despite skilled treatment and care, may not recover. In these circumstances we will endeavour to ensure that comfort and dignity is maintained and that wishes of family and friends are respected.
  • We recognise the importance of updating our clinical knowledge as a means of ensuring and improving quality care.
