Pre-Arrival
Prior to confirming your appointment/admission at Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, you should consider the entry requirements of Malaysia. You may need to get vaccinated or apply for a visa in order to enter Malaysia.

- Assist in Medical Visa Application & Extension
- Our team can assist you and your companion(s) on this. Just contact our International Patient Centre team to provide us with the necessary details and we will do our best to check and correct errors (if any).
- Airport Transfers
- We can send a representative to pick you at the airport upon arrival. However, do let us know in advance your flight itinerary or other transportation arrangements. Charges may be applicable and subject to availability.

If you are already in contact with our International Patient Centre team before arrival, you will already know your appointment date with your selected specialist and what to expect. Otherwise, if you would like to “walk-in” to our hospital, you may proceed to either of our Concierge Counters (Block A & Block B, Ground floor) where our friendly Customer Service Officers are ever ready to assist you.
Arrival
Welcome to Malaysia! To ensure your journey from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA & KLIA2) to Thomson Hospital is smooth and convenient, we have stated down several transportation options:
- By Train
- KLIA Ekspres Train: Take the KLIA Ekspres train from KLIA to KL Sentral. The journey takes approximately 28 minutes.
- MRT: From KL Sentral, transfer to the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line. Take the MRT towards Sungai Buloh and get off at Kota Damansara station. Final Leg: From Kota Damansara MRT station, you can take a short taxi or Grab ride to Thomson Hospital, which is about 3 kilometers away.
- By Car
- Airport Taxis: Prepaid airport taxis are available at KLIA. Head to the taxi counter in the arrival hall to book your ride.
- Direct Ride: Provide the driver with the address for Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, 11, Jalan Teknologi, Taman Sains Selangor 1, PJU 5, Kota Damansara, 47810 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. The travel time may vary based on traffic, typically taking around 45-60 minutes.
- Grab Car (Ride-Hailing Service): Download the Grab app and book a ride from KLIA to Thomson Hospital. Grab vehicles are easily available at the designated pick-up points outside the airport terminals. Convenience: This option offers the convenience of direct door-to-door service. Simply enter "Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara" as your destination.
- For arrivals from Subang Airport, a car ride only takes approximately 18 minutes.
- By Shuttle
- Shuttle Services by Thomson Hospital Shuttle: Check if Thomson Hospital offers a dedicated shuttle service from KLIA. Please coordinate with our patient services for schedules and availability.
- Private Shuttle: Some hotels or private services provide shuttle services that can be booked in advance.
- By Ambulance
- Please arrange prior to arrival and please inform the International Patient Centre (IPC) team.

This can be arranged with our International Patient Centre. Their operation hours are from:
- Monday - Friday: 8:30am to 5:30pm
- Saturday: 8:30am to 12:30pm
- Sunday and Public Holiday: Closed
Visitors are allowed within the following visiting hours:
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 12 pm till 2 pm / 6 pm till 8 pm
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): 24 hours
- High Dependency Unit (HDU): 12 pm till 2 pm / 6 pm till 8 pm
- Paediatric Close Observation Unit (PCOU): 12 pm till 2 pm / 4 pm till 8 pm
- General Wards: 12 pm till 2 pm / 4 pm till 8 pm
If your companion or visitor is not well, we encourage them to take the necessary precautions and also put on a face mask for preventive measures. We also encourage to limit the number of visitors per visit session as other patients around will need to have their rest as well.
Departure
- At Thomson, patients will be first assessed by your primary consultant before written discharge orders are issued. To ensure that you are ready for the discharge process, the written discharge order must be recorded and filed in your medical records prior to the discharge.
- Once your Doctor has ordered you for discharge, the nurses will compile all necessary documents, and our billing team will be notified to start preparing and finalising your bill.
- Our billing team will get in touch with you once the bill is ready. At any time upon discharge, you may request for more information and updates from our Billing team.
- Please note that if your mode of payment is via insurance, your discharge process may require a longer period of time, subject to the approval of your guarantee letter upon discharge.
- Our Nurses will liaise with your respective doctor(s)’s Clinic Assistants on your next required follow-up appointment. Please inform your doctor in advance if you require a referral letter explaining your condition for any follow-ups back in your residing country.
- Our Patient Liaisons usually make daily ward visits, feel free to share any feedback with us. Alternatively, you can put in your feedback online via https://www.thomsonhospitals.com/share-your-experience/
If you need to travel by air to return to your home country or another travel destination, you will need your doctor to certify a Fit for Travel Medical Certificate, as well as a list of medications you will require abroad. Please:
- Ask your doctor for a summary of medical reports (e.g. lab tests, imaging and diagnostics results)
- Inform your doctor and nurse where your next destination is
- Request for wheelchair assistance from the airport if necessary
