Clinical Research Centre
Clinical Research Centre (CRC) at Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara (THKD) was established in the year 2022 & functions as a local coordination centre for research activities & training related to research.
Our goal is to optimise healthcare excellence through rigorous clinical research, innovation & collaboration.
All clinical research conducted at THKD must adhere to our Research Code of Conduct & approved by THKD Research Ethics Committee (REC).
Objectives
- Achieve and maintain a high level of compliance with regulatory requirements & standards throughout all stages of clinical trials
- Establish & maintain collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, or other stakeholders to enhance research opportunities & funding
- Optimise resource utilisation (such as equipment, facilities, & personnel) to maximise efficiency & reduce costs without compromising research quality

For new research applications, kindly submit the complete research application documents (via email) such as:
- Research Application Form
- Research Application Checklist
- Informed Consent Form & Written Subject Information Checklist
- Protocol
- Information Sheet/Consent Form
- Investigator’s Brochure
*Please ensure application forms are complete, preferably typewritten or if handwritten must be legible.
Please provide any relevant supporting documents, e.g.:
- Investigator(s)’ curriculum vitae & Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificates
- Investigator’s brochure & product summary
- Questionnaires
- Recruitment materials/advertisements
- Insurance coverage for subjects in event of trial-related injury
- Indemnity Statement from trial sponsor for relevant staff, investigator, institution & Research Ethics Committee (REC)
Submission criteria for clinical research:
- Informed consent form based on WHO & GCP recommendations
- At least one study team member should be trained/certified in GCP
*Subjects shall only be enrolled in a trial after written approval of the trial from REC & no subject shall be admitted to a trial before the REC issues written approval/favorable opinion of the trial.

REC Review Procedures:
- Full Board Review
- Expedited Review
- Exempt Review
*If research protocol is subjected to Full Board Review, applicants will be notified of the date & time of the REC meeting (at least 7 days in advance). The investigator will be required to attend this meeting to present the research submission & answer queries from THKD REC members.
