About the Doctor

Dr. Lau Gin Choy obtained his Medical Degree from Dalhousie University (Canada) in 2002 and returned to Malaysia to work in University Malaya Medical Centre. He later moved to Hospital Kajang where he was last working as Consultant Physician for 2 years. In 2009, he joined the renowned Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) as a Senior Cardiology Registrar where he completed his training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and received the National Specialist Register in Cardiology. Dr. Lau had performed over 2000 interventional cardiology cases (coronary angiogram, coronary angioplasty, bifurcation stenting, Left Mainstem stenting, Rotational Artherectomy ROTABLATOR, Intravascular Ultrasound, Fractional Flow Reserve and Optical Coherence Tomography, Pacemaker Implantation and peripheral angiogram & angioplasty). In 2010, he was awarded the Best Interventional Case (MyLIVE) and sent for an Interventional Fellowship course in Las Vegas (SCAI). Since 2011, Dr. Lau has also been actively involved in the new field of Renal Denervation for Resistant Hypertension. He helped set up the Resistant hypertension Clinic and Renal Denervation Programme at IJN (who performed the 1st case in Asia).
