Dr Jamalul Azizi is a consultant respiratory physician or pulmonologist with more than 20 years of experience. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and obtained his Masters in internal medicine from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. After completing his respiratory subspecialty training, he did interventional bronchoscopy training in Marseille, France and pioneered rigid bronchoscopy practice amongst pulmonologists in Malaysia. He also started the first bronchial challenge test and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) in Malaysia. He has a special interest in interventional bronchoscopy, pulmonary physiology, airway stenosis due to tuberculosis and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction for COPD (emphysema). He has published 2 books as Chief Editor (1) “A Case-Based Approach to Interventional Pulmonology: A Focus on Asian Perspectives” and (2) “Endobronchial TB Airway Stenosis: Malaysian Perspectives”. He is the first Malaysian pulmonologist and only the second Asian pulmonologist to receive the prestigious WABIP-Dumon award for his contribution in rigid bronchoscopy and central airway obstruction.
